  • gilded with golden leaves 23.75 karat
  • painted on gesso a number of substrates made from a traditional mix of an animal glue binder and chalk
  • painted in egg tempera technique
  • traditionally painted on a lime wood
  • provided with tapered and dove-tailed battens inserted into the back
  • covered with amber shellac and varnish

The depiction is a part of a larger painting - "Cavalcata dei Magi" located in Palazzo Medici Chapel in Florence.
"Cavalcata dei Magi" is the best-known masterpiece of Gentile da Fabriano created in 1459 - 1462.
